Creating a “Greener” pedicure...one sandal at a time!
With spring just around the corner, comes the beloved flip-flop and pedicure season. The sensation of having beautifully painted toes sometimes is thwarted when women realize they have left their open toed shoes at home and are provided with a disposable sandal. Fret not, Gadabout has created a solution for the spa aficionado, that not only helps the environment, but adds a bit of fashion.
With every pedicure service at Gadabout, the guest will be offered a complimentary pair of rubber-soled sandals. These sandals look like your everyday black flip flop...and can be worn to finish the to-do list after stopping for a bit of pampering. “Who wants to just go home after their service? Most women have a to-do list a mile long, and we are trying to make stopping at the spa a little easier,” says co- president Jana Westerbeke.
While the pedicure sandal will be more comfortable for women, it is also a huge step towards becoming "greener". By eliminating the disposable flip-flops, Gadabout is eliminating over 80,000 pieces of material being thrown into our landfills. “This is our latest green initiative,” says Westerbeke. “It is our way of committing excellence to our community by reducing what we dispose of… and giving our guests a better alternative.” Similar to what the grocery stores have down for re-usable bags, Gadabout is encouraging their guests the re-wear the sandals for their pedicure services, to continue the cycle of being “green”.
Not only is Gadabout providing the flip-flop to go with the pedicure, but they are featuring two pedicures to help cure the case of the winter blues. The Vital Mud Pedicure includes a warm mud wrap and refreshing Vital Leg Cream that helps reduce swelling, strengthen varicose veins and improves circulation. If the dry, winter season has your feet wishing for moisture, try the Cashmere Pedicure. This pedicure was formulated specifically for the dry desert climate using goat butter to bring life back to your skin while softening calluses.
Both pedicures are available at all Gadabout SalonSpas locations and range in price from $60-$67.
